The 4 Highlights of the WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES Trailer!

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

It's rare to find a trilogy in which each chapter compliment, enhance each other, stand well on its own, and possess great quality in its storytelling and characters. The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Toy Story, to name a few. Being the successor to Rise and Dawn, War for the Planet to the Apes is looking forward to be a great closing chapter to a surprisingly entertaining and intellectual trilogy. Andy Serkis, you're the guy!

Gorgeous cinematography... and powerful lines: Aside of the groundbreaking (yes, that adjective makes the technology of this movie justice) CGI of the apes, the shots throughout the film feel beautiful. Specially the first 10-15 seconds of the trailer look like a painting come to life, which is something to appreciate in this kind of blockbusters.

And don't get me started with... the dialogue. There's pain and anger in Caesar's voice, and if you have followed him since 2011, you connect with this character immediately and... goosebumps! Is there black and white in this conflict? It could turn even more grey-ish than it already is... which setups an emotional war yet to come to its end.

Woody Harrelson as the menace! Who would've thought Haymitch from The Hunger Games series would confront apes? That's just incredible, isn't it? The guy's a legit actor, let's just get that out of the way.

I love the way this trailer is constructed because the first half is dedicated to the protagonist's vision of the world, and the other half is through the antagonist's perspective, showing the moral clash in the grimmest way possible with the loud music. He looks intimidating and methodical... enough said.

What's her role? I feel like not enough has been said about this particular element of the trailer, but the girl that appears at the beginning and middle of it has caught my eye quite a bit. She looks terrified for sure, but... is she being protected by the apes? Or is she kidnapped? Is she connected to Caesar or the antagonist in some way?

Either way, having a young child into the war is a horrifying concept because it expands the scope of the situation in a menacing way and how it could affect different sides of the conflict, and I'm looking forward to that. This could give an important layer to the storytelling of the film.

Demise of the leader? This may be a misleading image in the trailer, but... this franchise has gone through some dark directions and I wouldn't be surprised if something heartbreaking and tragic happens by the end of the movie or even halfway through it. And... this is the third chapter of the trilogy. This may close Caesar's story.

He has proven he can sparkle a revolution, lead his kin... what if his final character arc is to show his ultimate symbolism to the apes and even the humans. He's a figure of hope. I think that the gravity of the situation will be at its best when bittersweet moments happen throughout the story, because wars can bring victories with great losses within.

A great trilogy? Rise, released back in 2011, was a pleasant surprise. Dawn amazed audiences back two years ago by being not only a worthy successor of Rise, but also by being a great film in general. Regardless, this will kill at the box office even with Spider-Man and Dunkirk.

This movie will be directed from the same director of the previous entrance, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which was an excellent sci-fi film. Hope he'll knock it out of the park again with this and prove that trilogies can be truly great again. This may be the best trilogy we've ever had since The Dark Knight Trilogy. July will have the answers (all subjective, of course).
